Mission
The Donna Theatre exists to remove barriers for underrepresented artists and create space for stories that deserve to be seen and heard.
The Donna Theatre aims to provide free and low cost performance space to artists who have historically lacked access to major stages. Through a profit sharing model, community centered programming, and accessible ticketing, we support artists in bringing their work to life while welcoming audiences into meaningful cultural experiences.
At its core, The Donna Theatre is about creating a safe space for bold creative voices and the communities that gather to support them.
Values
-
Access Over Barriers
We believe talent should never be limited by money, connections, or gatekeeping. Our model removes financial obstacles so artists can focus on creating and sharing their work. -
Equity in Practice
Equity is not a statement it is how we operate. From artist selection to revenue sharing, we center artists from underrepresented communities and ensure they are supported, respected, and compensated. -
Artists First
We prioritize the creative process and the people behind it. By handling administrative and front of house responsibilities, we allow artists to concentrate on their work while benefiting directly from its success. -
Community and Care
The Donna Theatre is a welcoming space for audiences, artists, and collaborators. We value care, safety, and mutual respect, creating an environment where people feel seen and valued. -
Building Legacy
We believe storytelling and art are powerful tools for building legacy. Stories can live for lifetimes, preserve cultural memory, and help archive history for future generations.
