About Us

About The Donna Theatre

The Donna Theatre is a New York City based cultural organization founded by multi-discplinary artists and visionaries who understand firsthand the need for safe, affordable, and accessible creative spaces for underrepresented artists. Created in response to the financial and structural barriers that often limit artistic opportunity, The Donna Theatre is envisioned as a black box theatre that supports artists in developing and presenting their work without the burden of high upfront costs.

The Theatre is named in honor of founder Victoria Coker’s late mother, Donna, whose deep love for music, arts, and culture shaped Victoria’s lifelong relationship with creativity. The Donna Theatre carries forward this legacy by creating a space where artists are encouraged, supported, and given the opportunity to share their voices.

The Theatre will operate on a profit sharing model, allowing artists to create, rehearse, and present performances while sharing in the financial success of their work. By removing traditional rental fees and handling administrative and front of house operations, The Donna Theatre enables artists to focus on the creative process while gaining professional presentation experience.

In addition to live performance, the space is designed to function as a rotating gallery, offering visual artists opportunities for residencies and artwork sales. This multidisciplinary approach encourages collaboration, audience engagement, and sustainable creative practice.

The Donna Theatre is currently working to secure a physical space and launch its first phase of programming, with the long term goal of becoming a springboard for emerging and underrepresented talent in New York City.
